Packable Backpacks For Traveling And Everyday Carry

Packable Backpacks Give You Everyday Carry Versatility.

Carrying a secondary or backup backpack in your everyday carry not only makes sense, but it’s convenient as well. I have carried a packable backpack for many years in my main bag and have always found that it’s handy and has many uses.

Often when I go to lunch or to an off-site client meeting, I’ll just take out the packable backpack, unpack it, and toss just what I need for the run in to the bag along with my Condor EDC pouch. Usually it’s just a tablet, a notebook and pen and perhaps some sales literature if I feel that I might be able to upsell the client.

Packable packs are made from lightweight materials and can fold up into a small pouch when not in use. They’re handy at trade shows when you get more swag than you can put into your main bag (been there, done that). They also are really versatile and are more useful than you might initially think.

What Makes For A Good Packable Backpack For Everyday Carry?

The best packable backpacks and bags for everyday carry are made from lightweight synthetics or weather resistant materials. This makes the bag as light as possible, while making the bag easy to compress and fold up when not in use. The materials need to be strong in order to carry your EDC plus other gear you might need to take with you, but should not be a replacement for your main bag. A packable bag is a secondary bag for small, light loads or short runs. Carrying your Macbook Air to lunch, for example, or sales materials to a client’s office.

In any situation, treat your packable bag as a secondary bag, and only use it as your main bag should your regular main backpack fail and get damaged… and then only for a short period of time until you can replace your main backpack with a proper heavy duty backpack.
